Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Central plays Dubuque in scoreless men’s soccer draw

Dutch can't find a goal despite outshooting, outpossessing Spartans

PELLA — The Central College men's soccer team couldn't find a goal in 0-0 draw against the University of Dubuque in the American Rivers Conference opener for both teams.

Central (4-2-3, 0-0-1 conference) outshot Dubuque (0-6-3, 0-0-1 conference) by a 13-7 margin and put a pair of shots on frame but never found the goal it needed to continue its winning streak. Both of Central's shots on goal, by Cooper Collins (sophomore, Clive, Waukee Northwest HS) and Jackson Horst (freshman, Parkville, Mo., St. Pius X), came in the second half. The Dutch maintained possession for nearly 60% of the match, with 58% of that possession coming in the attacking half.

In goal Morgan Finkenbinder (sophomore, Elkhorn, Neb., Skutt Catholic HS), needed to make just one save to secure his fifth shutout of the season and third in a row.

Central plays Coe College next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Cedar Rapids.
