CEDAR RAPIDS — The Central College men's soccer team secured three points in the American Rivers Conference standings with a 2-1 victory at Coe College Saturday night.
The Dutch (5-2-3, 1-0-1 American Rivers Conference) struck first with
Ethan Rodriguez's (sophomore, Des Moines, Roosevelt HS) first goal of the season shortly after Central took one of its seven corner kicks on the night in the 42nd minute,
Zach Holtan (sophomore, Ames, Gilbert HS) made it a 2-0 lead over Coe (3-4-4, 1-1-0 conference) in the 71
st minute, when he scored off a double assist from
Ian Gredell (sophomore, West Des Moines, Dowling Catholic HS) and
Nate Lampe (sophomore, Newton).
Coe scored a goal in the 84th minute but the Duch held on for a 2-1 win.
Morgan Finkenbinder (sophomore, Elkhorn, Neb., Skutt Catholic HS) made five saves in goal for the win.
Central travels to Indianola for a 7:30 p.m. match against Simpson College Wednesday.
