PELLA— With six of the top 10 runners at the Dutch Open Friday, the Central College women's cross country team made it three consecutive team titles to start the 2025 season.
Central's team score of 19 outpaced the runner-up squad from Grinnell College's total of 42 points.
Freshman
Maddy Stevens (Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) was the individual champion, her second title in a row. She completed the 6,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 57.8 seconds.
Teah Miller (junior, Iowa Falls, Iowa Falls-Alden HS) had her best finish of the season, taking third in 23:24.2. Freshmen
Breckyn Peterson (Glenwood) and
Kyra Cordes (Marion) rounded out the top five in fourth (23:33.0) and fifth (23:36.7).
The Dutch lineup was bolstered by the season debut of All-American
Peyton Steffen (senior, Marion) from an offseason injury. She placed sixth in 23:56.3
Also in Central's top seven were
Addie Doughan (Clear Lake) in 10th place
(24:22.0) and
Reeve Ristau (Denver) in 11th place (24:25.9)
Central is set to run at the Dan Huston Invitational hosted by Wartburg College next Saturday at 10:45 a.m.
