PELLA — Playing in a five-set match for just the second time this season, the Central College volleyball team rallied to secure a victory in its American Rivers Conference opener Wednesday against Nebraska Wesleyan University.
Central (12-5, 1-0 American Rivers Conference) overcame losses in the first two sets for a 22-25, 22-25, 25-23-25-23, 15-11 victory against the Prairie Wolves (10-3, 0-1 conference).
"Tonight was going to be a challenging match, because they are an extremely talented opponent," coach
Jeanne Czipri said. "I'm really proud of how each position, on and off the court, heled us make the adjustments needed. The response to mistakes, errors and lost points was exceptional."
Landry Pacha (junior, Wellman, Mid-Prairie HS) and
Leslie Snow (senior, Olivia, Minn., BOLD HS) both had double-doubles to lead the Dutch. Pacha had 25 assists and 13 digs while Snow had 14 kills and 12 digs.

Colleen Kenney (senior, Taylor Ridge, Ill., Rock Island Alleman HS) had 29 digs.
Central hosts Grinnell College at 7 p.m. Friday.
