MOUNT VERNON — Central College men's tennis freshman
Bodi Kortz (freshman, Wormerveer, Netherlands) racked up four wins in the Cornell Invitational Sunday.
Kortz was 2-0 in the A-Flight of singles and doubles. He beat Anthony James of Wis.-Stevens Point (6-2, 7-6 [7-5]) and Gage Becker of Loras (4-1, 4-1) in singles action. Alongside
Alex Slaymaker (junior, Geneseo, Ill.) in doubles play, they beat Dawson Froemming and James of Wis.-Stevens Point (6-4) and Jaimes Palmer and Becker of Loras (6-4).
Ernest Alvarez Chedzoy (junior, Kerrville, Texas, Tivy HS) also went 2-0 in the B-Flight singles against Sean Sonoiki of Loras (6-4, 6-1) and Henry Lambley of Cornell (4-0, 4-1).
Three other Dutch players picked up singles wins as
Quin Hull (senior, Ottumwa) went 1-1 in C-Flight,
Trey Hull (senior, Ottumwa) went 1-1 in D-Flight and
Brody Ferrell (sophomore, Pella) went 1-1 in E-Flight.
Central travels to Waverly for the American Rivers Conference Individual Championships next Friday and Saturday in Waverly.
