Dutch finish 4-0 at Ripon volleyball tournament

Central wins 12 of 13 sets during Wisconsin weekend

RIPON, WIS. — The Central College volleyball team picked up two more wins Saturday morning at the Red Hawks Invitational hosted by Ripon University (Wis.)
           
The Dutch (9-5) swept Maranatha Baptist University (Wis.) 25-3, 25-13, 25-7 and defeated the hosts 25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 25-16.
           
"We came into the weekend with specific goals and changes we needed to make," coach Jeanne Czipri said. "For the most part we achieved those goals and made the adjustments we asked."
           
Against Maranatha Baptist, Alex McNab (freshman, Colorado Springs, Colo., Pine Creek HS) led the way with 11 kills on 18 swings. Grace Corey (freshman, Watertown, S.D.) had 27 assists. The Dutch had 19 services aces, led by five from Landry Pacha (junior, Wellman, Mid-Prairie HS). Rachel Bowers (sophomore, Orion, Ill.) had 10 digs.
           
In the second match against Ripon, Leslie Snow (senior, Olivia, Minn., BOLD HS) had 16 kills and Paige Sexton (junior, Sheridan, Ill., Serena HS) had 11. Pacha and Makayla Ribble (senior, Iowa City) each had 22 assists. Snow, Colleen Kenney (senior, Taylor Ridge, Ill., Rock Island Alleman HS) and Alexis Crowley (freshman, Romeoville, Ill.) each had three service aces. Kenney added 21 digs and Kaitlyn Mumm (junior, Waukee, Des Moines Christian HS) had five blocks.
           
Central ventures to Jacksonville, Illinois next Saturday for matches against Kenyon College (Ohio) and Illinois College.
