Dutch men blank Prairie Wolves to advance in league tournament

Central gets goals from Guyton and Holtan

PELLA — Recording its eighth shutout of the season, the Central College men's soccer team advanced to the American Rivers Conference semifinals with a 2-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan University Saturday.
           
The No. 4 seed, Central (9-3-5) dispatched the No.5 Seed Nebraska Wesleyan (6-7-5) and will play on the road in the semifinals Wednesday against an opponent to be determined later Saturday.
           
Isaiah Guyton (freshman, Davenport, Bettendorf) put the Dutch on the board by hitting a goal from distance with his left foot in the 20th minute.
           
Zach Holtan (sophomore, Ames, Gilbert) made it 2-0 in the 79th minute when a Cooper Collins (sophomore, Clive, Waukee Northwest HS) corner was flicked across the mouth of the goal by Trysten Vasquez (senior, Cedar Rapids, Xavier HS) to the waiting foot of Holtan.
           
Goalkeeper Morgan Finkenbinder (sophomore, Elkhorn, Neb., Skutt Catholic HS) made four saves while facing 11 shots.
           
The Dutch are making a second consecutive trip to the league tournament semifinals.
