Central men drop semifinal match in overtime

Dutch hold potent Luther offense in check for 98 minues

DECORAH — Another stellar defensive performance by the Central College men's soccer team came up short in a 1-0 overtime defeat at Luther College Wednesday night.
           
Central (9-4-5) and Luther (8-2-7) played a scoreless match for 98 minutes before a Luther shot was deflected by a Dutch defender and ricocheted past Dutch goalkeeper Morgan Finkenbinder (sophomore, Elkhorn, Neb., Skutt Catholic HS) for a golden goal victory
           
Finkenbinder made five saves and faced 15 total shots on the night.
           
Central attempted just three shots and got its only shot on goal from Nate Lampe (sophomore, Newton) in the 18th minute.
           
The Dutch were making their second consecutive trip to the league tournament semifinals.
