INDIANOLA — The Central College women's soccer team traveled to Indianola on Wednesday to take on Simpson College in an American Rivers Conference matchup and suffered a 3-1 loss.
After falling down 2-0 in the first half,
Olivia DeVos (sophomore, Altoona, Iowa, Southeast Polk HS) got the Dutch on the board with a goal early in the second half assisted by
Bailey Huizenga (senior, Colona, Ill., Geneseo HS). However, Simpson responded with a goal of their own only a minute later to take a 3-1 lead, which ended up being the final score of the match.
"We started off the match on the back foot and dug ourselves a whole," coach
Mike Kobylinski said. "Outside of the first eight minutes, it was a back and forth match."
Goalie
Zoey Sizemore (Omaha, Neb.) had six saves on nine shots on goal while allowing three goals.
Central now falls to 1-2 in conference play but return to Pella for a home match against Wartburg on Saturday, October 11 at 3:30 where they will look to bounce back.
"Hopefully we can rebound and gain some momentum this weekend against another tough opponent" Kobylinski said.
