WAVERLY—A career-best time by junior
William Wadsley (junior, Gilbert) paced the Central College men's cross country team at the Dan Huston Invitational hosted by Wartburg College Saturday morning.
Wadsley finished the 8,000-meter race in 25 minutes, 8.6 seconds to place 11th. As a team, Central was third with 127 points as Wartburg College won its home meet with 23 points. Warburg's Isaiah Hammerand was the top collegiate finisher in 24:16.2
Jack Brown (junior, Norwalk) was the next Dutch runner across the line in 21st place (25:38.6).
Donovan Card (junior, Norwalk) was 47th (26:32.6),
Austin Vander Werf (sophomore, Saint Charles, Interstate 35 HS) was 49th (26:48.1) and
Dillon Starlin (sophomore, Creston) was 70th (27:03.8) to complete the scoring portion of Central's lineup.
James Brant (sophomore, Tama, South Tama HS). placed 74th (27:09.9) and
Nathan Vander Waal (sophomore, Pella) finished 80th (27:18.5) as Central's varsity seven.
Central is headed to Peoria, Illinois on Friday, October 17 for the Bradley Pink Classic starting at 3 p.m.
