PELLA — For the first time since 2017, the Central College women's soccer team earned a point against Loras College with a 0-0 draw Tuesday.
Central (9-4-3, 3-3-2 American Rivers Conference) also held Loras (13-1-2, 6-1-1 conference) scoreless for their first time in 32 all-time matches. The tie also marked just the second time the Duhawks haven't won in a conference match in the last five years.
"What a performance today by the team," coach
Mike Kobylinski said. "We had a game plan today and we fought like a team of champions."
Loras outshot Central by a 13-4 margin, but goalkeeper
Zoey Sizemore (junior, Omaha, Neb., Mercy HS) made five saves to record her fourth shutout in the last five matches.
The Dutch had chances of their own to score as all four shot attempts by the Dutch were on goal.
Central finished in fifth place in the American Rivers Conference standings and will travel to No. 4 Wartburg College for a first round match in the league's postseason tournament.
"We are going to enjoy our performance as a program for a day," Kobylinski said. I am very proud of our team and staff but there is more work to be done."
