PELLA — The Central College women's soccer team unleashed an offensive barrage against Luther College Tuesday night but never found the back of the net in a 0-0 tie.
Central (6-4-2, 1-3-1 American Rivers Conference) outshot Luther (5-6-2, 1-2-1 conference) 15-1 in the second half and had a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks in the same period. The Dutch had six total shots on frame, including four in the second half.
"We felt we did enough to win today but we'll settle with a draw," coach
Mike Kobylinski said. "It was nice to get another shutout.
"Their keeper made a few nice saves and we hit the cross bar and the post. We definitely pushed the action. This was a complete game for us which we needed to see and feel as a team."
Kylie Bloomstrom (sophomore, Forest Lake, Minn. Fores Lake Area HS) and
Piper Eighmy (junior, Birmingham, Ala. Briarwood Christian HS) each put two shots on frame, while Eighmy and
Grace Wolford (senior, West Des Moines, Valley HS) each fired off five total shots
Zoey Sizemore (junior, Omaha, Neb., Mercy HS) made three saves in goal while recording her fourth save of the season.
Central plays Nebraska Wesleyan University on the road Saturday in Lincoln for a 1 p.m. match.
"We will shift focus and fully lock in for Nebraska Wesleyan after a much needed day off tomorrow," Kobylinski said.
