Another Central volleyball sweep for a win

Dutch look strong on Senior Day

PELLA — For the eighth time this season, the Central College volleyball team won in straight sets, this time defeating the University of Wisconsin – River Falls Saturday.

Central's (15-6) attack was led by nine kills from middle hitter Kaitlyn Mumm (junior, Waukee, Des Moines Christian HS). Leslie Snow (senior, Olivia, Minn., BOLD HS) and Sophia Folkerts (junior, Dike, Dike-New Hartford HS) both added eight kills.

Setter Makayla Ribble (senior, Iowa City) had 18 set assists and libero Colleen Kenney (senior, Taylor Ridge, Ill., Rock Island Alleman HS) had 16 digs, both were team highs.

"I was really proud of the execution of our game plan and the quality with some of those the things we have been focused on," coach Jeanne Czipri said.

Ribble, Kenney, Snow, Sara Sienkiewicz (senior, Plainfield, Ill., Neuqua Valley HS) and student managers Kylie Carstens and Alaina Bunde were recognized in a pre-game ceremony for Senior Day.

"They have given a great deal to this program on and off the court and a win like tonight is a byproduct of that," Czipri said.

The Dutch travel to Cedar Rapids Friday for a 6 p.m. match against Coe College.
