Central routs Northland in Wisconsin volleyball tournament

Dutch split the day with loss to Dominican

DE PERE, WIS. — The Central College volleyball team made quick work of Northland University Saturday at the St. Norbert Chick-fil-A Classic Saturday, sweeping the Lumberjills 25-15, 25-14, 25-11.
           
In its second match of the day, Central (4-4) lost to Dominican University [Ill.] (25-19, 17-25, 25-23, 15-25, 15-13).
           
Outside hitter Leslie Snow (junior, Olivia, Minn., BOLD HS) had a big performance against Northland, notching 12 kills on just 19 attempts for a .579 hitting percentage. She also led the team with 12 digs.
           
Rachel Bowers (freshman, Orion, Ill.) and Landry Pacha (sophomore, Wellman, Mid-Prairie HS) added eight kills each. Pacha also led the team with 13 assists.
           
In the loss to Dominican, Central had 14 service errors, eight setting errors and 27 attack errors.
           
"We struggled to play clean volleyball," Czipri said. "And while we did some good things, our errors were what cost us."
           
Pacha led the way with 13 kills against Dominican. Avery Rexroat (junior, Macomb, Ill.) paced the team with 21 assists. Makayla Ribble (junior, Iowa City), Gracie Pierson (senior, Lake City, Minn.) and Colleen Kenney (junior, Taylor Ridge, Ill., Rock Island Alleman HS) each had three service aces.
           
Defensively against Dominican, Kaitlyn Mumm (sophomore, Waukee, Des Moines Christian HS) had five blocks and Kenney had 29 digs. For her performance over the weekend, Kenny was named to the St. Norbert Chick-fil-A Classic All-Tournament Team.
           
"We have some cleaning up to do," Czipri said. "The things we need to do to win are controllable and things we can own."                                                                                                        
           
Central travels to Dubuque for a 7:30 p.m. match against Clarke University.
