PELLA— Central College men's soccer goalkeeper John Foster (senior, Lee's Summit, Mo., North HS) and women's midfielder Paige Cahill (senior, Castle Rock, Colo., Castle View HS) were cited as College Player Award of Distinction recipients by the United Soccer Coaches for the 2023 season.
           
The award was recently established for member head coaches to submit deserving players based on one or more of the following criteria:

• Player has achieved quality performance on the field;
• Represented the highest ideals of team leadership;
• Exhibited quality character attributes including sportsmanship and respect for teammates, opponents, officials and the game;
• Made other significant contributions to the benefit of the program and the community     

Foster was a four-time honorable mention to the American Rivers All-Conference team and was the team's Most Valuable Player in 2022 and 2023. Cahill was a second team choice for the United Soccer Coaches All-Region IV squad and was a first team all-conference pick in 2023.
