PELLA — Senior
Paige Cahill (senior, Castle Rock, Colo., Castle View HS) became the Central College women's soccer program's all-time leader in assists during a 5-0 win over Buena Vista University Wednesday.
With two assists in the game, Cahill took over sole possession of the Central (6-2-4, 1-1-1 American Rivers Conference) record for most assists in a career at 20.
Kaitlyn Isom (senior, Phoenix, Ariz., Horizon Honors Academy) and
MiMi Pavelka (sophomore, Shakopee, Minn., Holy Family) both found the back of the net in the first five minutes of the contest.
"Isom struck that goal beautifully with her left foot," Kobylinski said. "She really set the tone for the game. We worked on those type of goals this week and MiMI was able to one time it."
Isom also had two assists on the night.
Amber Santana (junior, Indio, Calif., Shadow Hills HS) and
Nicole Sinclair (sophomore, Arvada, Colo., Jefferson Academy) also recorded assists.
Grace Coates (junior, Marion) added two more goals, moving her season total to 12. She's the leading goal scorer in the American Rivers Conference.
Hailey Hunter (senior, Rockford, Ill., East HS) had her first scoring tally of the season as well.
"Hailey is one of our hardest workers and it was wonderful to see her score," Kobylinski said.
The Dutch defense logged its seventh shutout of the year.
Zoey Sizemore (freshman, Omaha, Neb., Mercy HS) started in goal, making one save in 31 minutes and 42 seconds of work.
Bailey Lester (sophomore, Sioux Falls, S.D., Washington HS) did not need to make a save over the final 58:18.
Central is off from competition until next Tuesday, travelling to Luther College for a 5 p.m. match.
"We'll be able to rest our legs a little bit," Kobylinski said. "But we'll also be able to a train a little more without the match congestion and I think that will be beneficial to the product we put on the field."
