PELLA—Three Central College athletes received performer of the week honors from the American Rivers Conference.
Delaney Underwood (senior, Mitchellville, Colfax-Mingo HS) was cited as the league's women's golfer of the week while
Noah Jorgenson (junior, Sidney) and
Caroline McMartin (junior, Pella) were cited in men's and women's cross country, respectively.
Underwood was the top NCAA Division III finisher at the Nebraska Wesleyan University Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday, placing third with 78-75—153 on the par-72 Mahoney Golf Course. Underwood led the Dutch to a first-place finish in the eight-team tourney for Central's second consecutive title at the meet. Underwood previously received the league award Sept. 6.
McMartin was 19th in a 364-runner field at the Roy Griak Invitational Friday, hosted by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She finished the 6,000-meter course in 23:17.7, helping Central place 10th in a 30-team field. It's the third time McMartin has received the league honor and the second time this season, previously being cited Sept. 12.
Jorgenson was 12th out of 400 men's runners at the Roy Griak Invitational, finishing in 25:54.1 over 8,000 meters. That's more than a minute faster than his time on the same course a year ago. The Dutch finished sixth in a 29-team field.
