Dutch take down Lawrence and Mount Mary in tournament

MILWAUKEE, WIS.—Increasing its winning streak to four, the Central College volleyball team defeated Lawrence University (Wis.) and Mount Mary University (Wis.) Saturday at the MSOE Invitational.

Central (9-6) needed four sets to beat the Vikings (5-8) 25-13, 25-13, 23-25, 25-11 but swept the Blue Angels (3-13) 25-10, 25-15, 25-15. Coach Jeanne Czipri rotated 15 players in for each contest.

"We're excited about the results from the weekend," Czipri said. "We're grateful we had the opportunity to get some more of our players on the court today."

Against Mount Mary, Central had a season-high .435 hitting percentage as a team, making only eight errors in 69 attempts. Ruth Hruska (senior, Brookfield, Ill., Riverside-Brookfield HS) had eight kills and .615 hitting percentage.

Natalie Gasynski (junior, outside hitter) led the team with nine kills against Lawrence and a total of 16 on the day.

Central hits the road Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. American Rivers Conference match against Simpson College in Indianola. Fans making the short trip to Indianola are encouraged to wear white.

"We still have things we need to clean up going into our next few matches," Czipri said. "We are eager to see everyone in white on Wednesday in Indianola as we get another conference challenge."
