Central women’s soccer squad completes unbeaten road trip

MILWAUKEE, WIS. — The scoreless streak for the Central College women's soccer team was extended 90 more minutes in a 4-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College Saturday night.

The Dutch (3-1) did not allow a goal during their two games in Wisconsin and outscored their opponents 11-0.

Two Central goalkeepers kept the slate clean with Taylor Golt (sophomore, Crystal Lake, Ill., Prairie Ridge HS) getting the win after 84 minutes between the minutes. Freshman Leann Grandia (West Des Moines, Valley HS) closed the final six minutes of the game out.

"All of our women contributed today," coach Mike Kobylinski said. "It was a total team effort for the win."

It took all of 1 minutes and 56 seconds for forward Erin Manion (junior, Delafield, Wis., Kettle Moraine HS) to cross one into midfielder Olivia Denham (senior, Bondurant, Bondurant-Farrar HS) for the game's opening goal.

"She hit one of the best shots I've seen," Kobylinski said. "It was an absolute peach. Olivia has stepped up so far this season and played really well."

Manion scored unassisted for her fifth goal of the week in the final minute of the contest.

"It was nice for Erin to get on the scoreboard in her home state," Kobylinski said. "It was a very nice goal. When she gets her shoulders square, not a lot of people can stop her."

Midfielder Anna Tillo (Freshman, West Burlington, Notre Dame HS) added a strike in the second half for her second tally of the season. Baylee Kivett (junior, midfielder, Grinnell) added the assist.

An own goal by the Warriors in the first half accounted for Central's fourth goal.

After the weekend road trip, Central will host Knox College (Ill.) Tuesday at 5 p.m.

"Knox is going to be a very good side," Kobylinski said. "They've won their league the last two years. We're going to prepare for them and hopefully give them a good match on Tuesday."
