Dutch duo grabs second doubles win at regional tennis competition

Box Score ST. PETER, MINN. — In consolation action at the USTA/ITA Division III Midwest Regional, the doubles pairing of Karleigh Schilling (sophomore, Swisher, Cedar Rapids, Prairie HS) and Jenna Stewart (senior, Burlington, Notre Dame HS) earned their second win of the weekend Saturday.

Coming off of a win in their second match on Friday, Schilling and Stewart knocked off Emma Sievers/Elizabeth Johnson from Concordia University (Wis.) 8-3 in the opening match of the day.

"They really made some good strides today," assistant coach Peter Greteman said. "There's some doubles tactics they've been working on the past few weeks and I think it's starting to click."

They wrapped up the tournament with an 8-4 loss against Brenda Guan/Isabel Green of Grinnell College. They went 2-2 over the weekend and are now 6-4 overall on the season.

In consolation singles matches, Schilling lost to Allie Miller of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 6-4, 2-6 (10-7) and Stewart lost to Alicia Wiedmeier of St. Katherine's University (Minn.) 6-2, 7-6 (1).

It will be a busy week for the Dutch next week as they play four conference matches, starting with a 3:30 p.m. match at Simpson College on Tuesday.
