Why Central?
I transferred to Central after my sophomore year. There were three things I looked for when I was searching for a new school: an excellent education program, successful softball program, and a reasonably short distance from home so I could spend more time with my family. When I found Central, I hit the jackpot! My only regret is not deciding to transfer here sooner.
Favorite professor and why?
It is hard for me to choose just one, as I have had many helpful professors here at Central, especially in the education department… Jason Surian and Julianne Taylor get the tie, though! They are both extremely passionate about teaching, which makes it fun and easy to learn from them. They do a wonderful job of modeling effective teaching in the classroom, and they have given me many useful tools and strategies that I can use to engage students in my own classroom someday.
In your iPod?
Lots of country, today’s hits, and some feel good Christian music.
You’re majoring in elementary education because?
I am majoring in elementary education because I would love the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of elementary students someday and help them become lifelong learners. My mother, a dedicated first grade teacher, is the one who inspired me to want to become a teacher. I also have twin sisters in second grade who remind me every day why I want to spend the rest of my life working with young kiddos.
What would you consider to be your spirit animal?
Well, I decided to take the “spirit animal quiz” online, and here was my result… “The Wolf: Your life is your family. You wrap your mind and heart around them. Your home is where your family is, and that's easy to see, but letting go is one of the toughest things you'll have to do.” Couldn’t be more accurate!
Who has the best nickname on the team?
“Pickle” (Paige Dickel) or “Bumper” (Maddie DeLeon)
Most expensive thing you’ve ever broken?
My softball bat. That is one expensive piece of metal!
What’s the best candy bar in the world?
Snickers.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Probably too many… Shopping can be a dangerous thing for me…

Shania Twain’s final tour!
Favorite TV Show
I don’t watch a ton of TV. However, I am a fan of One Tree Hill, The Bachelor, and Fixer Upper.
The one thing people don’t know about Coach Wares- C
oach won’t pick up the ball and hand it to the pitcher until it is INSIDE the circle. So, what happens if the ball is behind home plate or perhaps in the outfield? He will kick it until it is inside that circle. Maybe a little superstitious? J
Why do you love Central softball?
There is SO much to love about Central softball! The number of traditions and the connections that are made between past and present players are just a couple things that are pretty special. I also love the tremendous care and support the coaching staff provides and how they push us to become better athletes AND better people!

teaching in an elementary classroom, coaching young softball pitchers, and hopefully taking care of a husband and kids.

Bucket list
The next thing on the list would probably be going to the Rose Bowl with my whole family. So, I am hoping our Hawkeyes make it back there sometime in the near future!
