Why Central?
I chose Central because this is where I felt at home and the most comfortable. After I visited, I felt that this place would give me the best opportunity to be successful in athletics and academics. I am very pleased with the decision I made and could not see myself spending four years at any other school.
Favorite professor and why?
Keith Jones- Throughout my four years, he has been one of those professors who has really pushed and encouraged me to do my best at every aspect of my Central experience. He challenges his students and does not settle for the “I don’t know answer.” He is the type of professor that makes you want to succeed in his class. He is also the type of guy who will stop you in the hall and ask you how your day is going, or how your game went the weekend before. Initially, I had no idea what I wanted to major in and Dr. Jones encouraged me to pick psychology. To be honest, I was very reluctant and I kind of laughed at him. I had no idea how well psychology would prepare me for my future career and I owe a lot of that to him.
In your iPod?
I listen to a little bit of everything, but a lot of hard rock when I am working out or on game days. The baseball team has also been forced to listen to an ungodly amount of Shania Twain and Justin Bieber because Coach Deutscher will not listen to anything else.
You’re majoring in Psychology because?
Ever since I was little, my plan was to go to law school. Thanks to Dr. Jones, I have discovered that in order to study the law, you need to understand human behavior. As a psychology, major, I have been able to tailor my classes to fit areas that interest me and will be applicable in the future. Except I am in gender psychology right now and I’ll never figure out what girls are thinking. In all seriousness, the psychology major has taught me how to research thoroughly, write effectively, and think critically. Along the way, I have been able to learn more about human behavior and cognition than I ever thought possible.
Plans after graduation?
Next year, I will begin my first year of Law school at the University of Iowa. Sometime between then and now, I will need to learn how to cook. Central Market has spoiled me and I’m not sure I can be a lawyer if I don’t eat.
Celebrity crush as a kid?
I never really had a celebrity crush, but I was obsessed with Nala from the Lion King when I was 4.
Foreign language you’d love to learn to speak
Arabic
If someone wrote a biography about you, what would the title be?
Noah Stochl: Takin’ naps and eatin’ snacks
You know you’re going to be stranded on an island, which teammate would you want with you?
Tanner Wood for sure. There is never a time when he is without food. I honestly think he carries around a package of sandwich meat and can of Lawry’s seasoning salt (He gets really angry when they run out at Central Market). Just from what he has in his dorm room I think we would be able to stay alive for at least a year. For our Spring trip to Florida, he didn’t have enough room in his bag to pack his protein, so he made his mom bring more for him. She probably had to bring an extra suitcase just for that. I think GNC would go out of business without him. Adam Carey will not be coming! He gets to amped up and has a weird obsession with playing kazoos and making goose noises. I won’t be able to deal with that.
Pancheros or Chipolte?
Pancheros….No question!
Favorite TV Show
I wish I had more time to watch TV shows, but I really enjoyed binge watching “The Ranch” on Netflix.
The one thing people don’t about Coach Gritsch?
After turning down a job offer at True Value while he was a student here, he chose to do grounds work on campus instead. He absolutely loathed trimming the hedges and still complains about it today.
Why do you love Central baseball?
I have made a lot of great friends by being a part of this program. These guys never take themselves too seriously, but when the time comes to work hard, everyone knows how to roll up their sleeves. I am very fortunate to have been a part of this program and I have truly enjoyed going to the field each and every day. Like many other athletic teams on campus, the baseball team is a family and we do our very best to put everything we have into our red hats.
