Why Central?
I transferred because I wanted to play basketball again and it was between Simpson and Central. I really liked the coaches here and the team had just won the conference regular season and tournament. I also knew Colby Taylor and Sam Markham (two central athletics legends now!!) from high school and they made my visit really comfortable. I’d heard good things about the school too.
Favorite professor and why?
Either Anya Butt or Jen Diers. They both taught non-major classes for me and got me interested in their classes. Both really interesting, good people, and great at their jobs. Jim Fuller was good too. I took coaching with him and got way more out of it than I thought I would.
In your iPod?
Lots of singer-songwriter stuff from any of the last 6 decades. I go through stages where I will get hooked on any genre, but I always come back to John Mayer and Ed Sheeran. They both have lots of new stuff out in the next few months, so 2017 will be a great year!
You’re majoring in business management because?
I was always interested in watching the stock market and I’ve always thought it would be cool to run my own business.
If you weren’t playing basketball, what sport would have played at Central?
Tennis was my next best sport.
What is your all-time favorite Christmas or birthday gift?
I got one of those basketball arcade things where you see how many you can make on this little hoop in a minute. We put in a lot of hours on that when I was younger.
Who is your favorite super hero?
Never got into those movies. I saw Spiderman once when I was younger, but that’s the only one I’ve ever watched.
What was your first detention for?
I maybe shouldn’t say on here, you’ll have to ask me in person.
What’s your go-to song when you want to sing in the car?
That changes by the week, but right now it’s Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran. The majority of the time it’s either One Direction, Ed Sheeran, or John Mayer (I have 3 sisters so I get a pass on my liking for One D).
As a child, what would you have said was your dream job?
It flip-flopped between the NBA or Professional Tennis.
Favorite TV Show?
Not really into these either, but I wouldn’t miss a morning SportsCenter when I was younger if that counts.
The one thing people don’t know about Coach Douma?
A lot of students probably don’t know that he was a two-time NAIA all-american and an overtime away from being a National Champ.
Why do you love Central basketball?
We have had a fun group of guys since I’ve been here. Even when we’re not winning we seem to always find a way to have a good laugh no matter where we are or what we’re doing.
“Ten years from now I’ll...”
be living in some small island town running a restaurant/bar with my older sister!!!
Favorite food from Central Market?
ICE CREAM WEDNESDAY!!!!!!! 2nd place is cookies on Tuesdays.
Bucket list?
Sail across the Atlantic with Captain Johnny Walker at the helm, play an acoustic gig with a buddy, open this restaurant/bar, finally go a day without getting yelled at by Nate Munn.
