Why did you choose Central?
I knew pretty early on that I wanted to continue my athletic career in college, so I knew a smaller school was the best option for me. Coach Sturman reached out to me to come for a visit and I loved everything from athletics to academics. When it came time for decision, Central felt like home.
Favorite professor and why?
It’s hard to pick just one! The professors in the kinesiology department have all been so supportive and helpful throughout the years. As my advisor and professor, Dr. Shuger Fox has always been someone I can talk to when trying to plan out my future.
You’re majoring in kinesiology because?
I am a kinesiology major and I’m thinking about going into Physical Therapy. I chose kinesiology because I think learning about how the body functions through different types of exercise is super interesting, especially as an athlete.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
I have been involved with work study programs throughout the years, but this semester I am currently focusing on my physical therapy observation at Kinetic Edge in Pella!
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Right now I’ve been listening to a lot of Taylor Swift, SZA, Post Malone, Olivia Rodrigo, and The Kid LAROI
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
Participating in sports here at Central has had a very positive impact on my life. I had a built in group of friends coming in who I have continued to grow friendships with over the years. They have been a great support system through the highs and lows that come along with running. Being a college athlete has been my biggest challenge yet, both physically and emotionally, but there are so many great experiences that make it all worth it!
Would you rather train/run in the morning, afternoon or night?
I do most of my runs in the afternoon, but I love a good night run once in a while!
Would you rather travel into the past or the future?
I would travel to the past. I would love to see what life was like when my parents were my age!
Favorite animated character from a movie or tv show?
I have to say the Lorax because he reminds me of Hailey Hill :)
What’s the longest run you’ve ever gone on?
Unlike some of my distance-loving teammates, I have only ventured out for 11 miles.
Favorite TV Show
My all time favorite comfort show is Grey’s Anatomy. I've watched it all the way through twice and have started it up again!
What’s it like to compete for Coach Dunham?
Coach Dunham has given me the opportunity to push myself to new limits in college running. He has worked with me through several injuries to help me get back to healthy running, and he truly cares about my success as an athlete as well as my growth into a better person.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central’s women’s track and field/cross country team?
My favorite part is the experiences I get to have with my teammates. We get to have hotel sleepovers, run in new places, and plan fun things to do outside of practice! I feel like I have gained so many close friends because we all get to experience the struggles and triumphs together. The girls have really made my experience so special!
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I hope to be living in a new place doing a job I love with a family and a dog (probably named Lenny).
Favorite food from Central Market
Favorite food would be either cheesy bread or roasted potatoes, but dessert would definitely be caramel bars!
Bucket list
Travel around Europe, go surfing in Hawaii, cliff jumping, live in three different states
