Why did you choose Central?
I chose Central because of the football coaching staff and because Central had the major I was interested in.
Favorite professor and why?
My favorite professor at Central is Professor Tuan Nguyen. He taught one of the most interesting and fun classes I have ever taken. The reason the class was so fun and interesting is because of Tuan’s personality and his love for sports and the Central Football team.
You’re majoring in finance because?
I love numbers and math and I enjoy learning about money and investing. I am interested in the stock market as well. I am also minoring in Mathematics and Economics.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
Team Bible studies and intramurals
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Some of my go to musical artists are Juice WRLD, Iann Dior, Pitbull, and Flo Rida
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
Playing a sport at Central has taught me many life skills, such as improved time management, and has led me to many great opportunities and experiences. I feel very fortunate to have great coaches and mentors to help support me throughout my journey as a college athlete.
Favorite sport besides football
My favorite sport besides football is baseball. I enjoyed playing baseball growing up and throughout high school and continue to play on a slow pitch softball team during the summer.
What is the best nickname you’ve ever had?
The best nickname would probably be JRusch.
Best restaurant in the Des Moines area?
My two favorite restaurants in the Des Moines area are Texas Roadhouse and The Cheesecake Factory.
What’s the best Central football tradition?
One of the best Central football traditions is on Friday nights before our games we hang out as a team and watch a movie. It is a very fun night and I love bonding with my teammates and getting prepared for our game the next day.
Favorite TV Show
My favorite TV show is either Prison Break or the Blacklist.
What’s it like to play for Coach McMartin?
Playing for Coach McMartin is honestly an honor every day. He is the best coach and is a very special person. He cares for all his players and coaches like they are his own family. He is a very good coach on the football field and is also a great role model off the field as well. There is no one else I would rather play for.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of the Central football team?
My favorite part about being a member of the Central football team is how we are so close knit and are like family and brothers to one another. Each of us would do anything to help one another as well as be there for each other whenever someone would need it.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I am not sure what 10 years from now looks like, but I do know that I want to stay in the Des Moines area and stay close to my family, working in the finance field.
Favorite food from Central Market
One of my favorite foods at the Central Market is the hot ham and cheese sandwich.
Bucket list
I don't really have a bucket list, but I would like to travel to Hawaii someday.
