Ian Boline
Alburnett, Iowa
Class of 2022

Why did you choose Central?

I chose Central for the sense of community and how connected everyone on campus is with one another. Everyone at Central from coaches, professors, and students cares about my success and me as a person.

Favorite professor and why?

Dawn Reece, Sociology. I have had her for five classes, and she is a great instructor who I have a great relationship with. She is my academic advisor, and she is a perfect example of someone that is invested in my success and cares about me as a person.

You’re majoring in sports management because?

I plan on being an Athletic Director once I receive my master’s degree after graduation.

Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?

I work for the one and only Coach Ferrell in the Kuyper Athletic building. Best boss ever!!

Who are your go-to musical artists?

I like all kinds of music but a few of my favorite artists are Drake, Lil Baby, Adam Doleac, and Jake Owen.

How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?

It has made me an independent person and an overall well-rounded person. It has also given me friendships that I will keep for the rest of my life.

Best part of going to Florida for spring break baseball trip?

Spending time with my teammates outside of playing the games. Being together for a week brings us even closer to one another and it’s an experience we will always remember.

Favorite professional athlete?

Ayo Dosunmu, Chicago Bulls. ILL!

What is the weirdest scar you have and how did you get it?

I have a scar next to my right eye that got when I was five. I tripped and fell into a pvc waterspout. I cried my eyes out.

Pancheros or Chipotle?

Pancheros and it’s not even close. If you say Chipotle, you’ve never had Pancheros.

Favorite TV Show

The Office

What’s it like to play for Coach Klunder?

It’s extremely rewarding to play for Coach Klunder. We play with 100% energy and effort and play the great game of baseball the right way. He is a great coach and an even better person who I have gained the utmost respect for. I know that on and off the field he has my back and I have his. I feel fortunate that he is my coach and I have gotten to know him as a person.

What’s your favorite part about being a member of the baseball team at Central College?

The relationships. From moving onto campus my freshmen year, I knew that I was going to automatically have friends on the baseball team. We are all a part of a brotherhood and the bond we have will last for our whole lives. We are a family.

What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?

Be a High School athletic director and baseball coach.

Favorite food from Central Market

Hot Ham & Swiss Sandwiches from the grill.

Bucket list

In no particular order, travel to Europe, attend every MLB Stadium, and beat Joey Chestnut’s world record for the most hot dogs eaten at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on the 4th of July.
