Why did you choose Central?

I chose Central College because it allowed me access to a successful education, specifically in their language department, and allowed me to play two sports while staying close to home. My brother also attended Central, so it was awesome being close to him for a year.

Favorite professor and why?

I have two favorite professors. I love Dawn Reece from the Sociology department; she’s actually the one who convinced me to switch to sociology in the first place, and she showed me the different career possibilities with a sociology degree. My other favorite professor is Samuel Mate-Kodjo from the Spanish department. He was my first Spanish professor at Central, and he’s super funny and made the adjustment to college classes easy.

You’re majoring in spanish and sociology because?

I am majoring in Spanish and Sociology because it allows me to work in a wide range of careers and to work with people of different backgrounds than me. I’ve always enjoyed learning about different languages and cultures, and I love working with people, so this combination seemed to blend together nicely for me to be able to do that.

Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?

I have two work studies: I am the French tutor on campus, and I am the Sociology department student worker, so I get to work really closely with all the professors in those departments. I also have an internship this semester at Crisis Intervention Services which allows me to explore the social work field as a career option.

Who are your go-to musical artists?

Anything country: I am a really big fan of Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs.

How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?

Being a student athlete at Central College has taught me important life skills such as leadership, communication, and adaptation while building relationships with some of my closest friends. Some of my favorite memories have been made with my teammates!

What’s your number one pet peeve?

Assuming people are dumb just because they’re blond: I would like to think that I’m not dumb!

If you could live in a book, TV show, or movie, what would it be?

If I could live in any fictional world, I think I would live in the TV show Outlanders. It’s about a woman that gets transported back in time, and it’s such a fascinating but so entertaining show. I kind of want to know if I could survive back then!

Teammate who should audition for The Voice

Abbie Den Adel! We were playing a game, and she had to do karaoke as a dare, so she asked if she could make up a song instead. She started singing the funniest song I’ve ever heard, and now we sing it on the court all the time.

Favorite professional tennis player?

The only logical choice, Roger Federer. Best men’s tennis player to walk the earth.

Favorite TV Show

My favorite TV show is either Outlander or One Tree Hill. I am impatiently waiting for the next season of Outlander to go on Netflix, so I started rewatching One Tree Hill for the third time. It’s such a classic!

What’s it like to play for Coach Ferrell?

An adventure-every day is different, and you never know what he’s going to say next. Definitely keeps you on your toes.

What’s your favorite part about being a member of the women’s tennis team at Central College?

My teammates-I’ve made some really great friendships that will last a lifetime because of this program. I wish I didn’t have to graduate!

What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?

I hope to be happy and successful with whatever I’m doing, because I’m not quite sure what that is yet! I also hope to be surrounded by good friends and family, no matter where I end up! But definitely a dog.

Favorite food from Central Market

I love the build your own ice cream sundaes that we have every Wednesday at lunch. It gives me something to look forward to during the week.

Bucket list
  • go to a Morgan Wallen or Luke Combs concert
  • travel the world (especially Spain and South Africa)
  • buy my own dog
  • meet Roger Federer
  • have a successful career
  • graduate
  • swim in a shark cage
