Why did you choose Central?
I chose Central, because I got the opportunity to compete in the sport that I love and also pursue the major that I wanted to study. I also loved the “large campus” feeling without it actually being a large campus. Looking back, I could not see myself going anywhere else besides Central.
Favorite professor and why?
My favorite professor is Dr. Shelli Green. I have had her has a professor for the past three years, and I have enjoyed every single class. While she was completing her doctorate degree last year, we got to learn a lot of different techniques for various injuries; we would call it “Shelli voo-doo.”
You’re majoring in Athletic Training because?
It combines my two passions of sports and medicine. I love being on the sideline and being the first person to be at the athlete’s side when they suffer an injury. Seeing the athlete go from suffering the injury to returning back to competition is one of the greatest feelings I have had in this major.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
Most activities that I am involved in on campus have some connection to athletics, which include SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee), SAMs (Student-Athlete Mentoring), and CAATS (Club Associated with Athletic Training Students).
Who are your go-to musical artists?
I don’t really have any go-to artists. The genre really depends on what I’m in the mood for. For studying, I like to listen to classical covers of modern songs. For track meets, I listen to fast-paced songs to get my energy up. My year-review Spotify playlists are all over the place.
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
Academics and athletics have really taught me about time management and prioritizing. I used to procrastinate a lot when I came to college, but I quickly learned that I couldn’t continue doing that. So, I learned how to use my time better and put the more important things first.
Favorite sport besides track and field?
I grew up with football and wrestling from my older brother. I have always had a love for those two sports. I also really enjoy watching gymnastics and diving. It amazes me what these athletes can do.
What is the world's greatest candy?
My German mother would disown me if I said that American candy was the best. Anything made by Kinder and Haribo are the best. The German Kinder Überaschung Eir (Surprise Egg) is my absolute favorite.
If you could be an actor/character on any show or movie, what show or movie would it be and why?
I would be Guy Fieri in Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, because he gets paid to travel around the country and eat food. Who wouldn’t want to do that?
What was your dream job growing up?
The first job I remember was wanting to be a zookeeper.
Favorite TV Show
New Girl. The relationship between Nick and Schmidt cannot be beat.
What’s it like to compete for Coach Sturman?
He is very encouraging and wants all of us to compete to the best of our abilities.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central track and field?
I love how we are one big family. We cheer each other on, regardless of what event we compete in. We are there for one another, and I have built amazing friendships with my teammates.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I hope to be working at a college or university, or even possibly at the professional-level, as a Certified Athletic Trainer and have a couple dogs running around.
