Littleton, Colo.
Class of 2022
Why did you chose Central?
I chose Central because of the relationships that I could make on campus and everyone I met from my first visit. It was important for me to build connections especially coming from out-of-state.
Favorite professor and why?
This is incredibly hard because all of my professors have all supported me in so many ways, especially in the Education department. If I had to choose my favorite professor has to be Professor Strawser from the education department because she really wants you to succeed. I have had her for a couple of classes and she always wants to support you in any way. She stays late after class to talk to you or if you have any concerns, she’s there.
You’re majoring in elementary education because?
I have always wanted to be a teacher and be in education. Every time someone would ask me what I wanted to do when I grew up the response was a teacher. That hasn’t changed one bit. I love interacting with children from ages K-12, but there is a special place in my heart for 3 rd graders and middle school students.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
I am the president of the Education Club and I also am on the leadership team for Dutch Brigade. Both of which keep me extremely busy, but it is always fun and exciting. I’m also a Senior Student Ambassador for the admissions office.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
I have a very broad spectrum of music. Some days I really like James Bay and some days I really like Juice WRLD, but my steady go to has to be Thomas Rhett.
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
I have met a lot of new people and new perspectives being on the Track team. I think coming from a city to a small-town college has pushed me to explore new things that I have never experienced before.
If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would it be and why?
I am a really big reader, so this is a really hard choice. I think it would have to be Beatrice from Shakespeare’s play “Much Ado about Nothing.” I love her spunk! I think we would really get along and stir-up some real trouble!
What is a place everyone should visit in Colorado?
Red Rocks, hands down. I feel like this is a big hot spot for tourists, but that’s because it is so amazing! You have a view of Denver and you are really close to all of the little mountain towns that get overlooked like Evergreen and Pine.
What was your dream job growing up?
Always a teacher, I didn’t know specifically which level of teaching until this past summer though!
Teammate you’d take with you to win the Amazing Race
I think it would have to be Theo Baldus because he would have the strength and I would have the speed. Plus I need someone who’s tall on my team since I’m short!
Favorite TV Show
Parenthood, I have re-watched it so many times and it makes me cry every single time.
What’s it like to compete for Coach Sturman?
It always keeps me on my toes. He is so supportive with whatever you want to do and helps guide you into making decisions instead of pushing them. There are some crazy practice days, especially being in the horizontal jumps group. The drills that he comes up for me, Holly, and Brock for Triple Jump would not be something that one would typically see. Regardless, he knows how to support his athletes on and off the track which is really important.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of the Central women’s track and field team
My favorite part is that I get to meet so many new people and with track everyone is inviting! We have people that come to Central specifically for track and some people that are dual-sport athletes and join when they have the chance to.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
Hopefully living somewhere I haven’t lived before, I love going to new places! Being a teacher in upper elementary or middle school, have a dog or maybe a couple, and a family.
