Why did you chose Central?
I chose Central because of the close-knit family aspect. The first time I was on campus, I fell in love. Even though Pella is a small town and I am from a big city, it still feels like home. Each professor cares about their student’s success and I know I will graduate having gotten an amazing education. Central has also given me the opportunity to continue playing tennis and for that I am grateful.
Favorite professor and why?
My favorite professor is Shelley Bradfield because she always takes time to make sure each one of her students is doing well in all aspects of our lives. Her door is always open and it is really easy to get help from her. Her classes are also super interesting and interactive.
You’re majoring in communication studies because?
I am majoring in Communication because I could always see myself working with others and I would like to become an event planner after graduation and studying communication can aid me in achieving this goal.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
When I am not training or traveling for tennis I spend most of my time studying for my major. Any free time I have I like to spend at other sports events supporting the other athletes at Central.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
I like all different genres of music but I really love Céline Dion, Thomas Rhett, Elton John, Cher, and Maren Morris.
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
Playing sports has always been a huge part of my life and Central has given me the opportunity to continue my tennis career while also getting an education. My teammates have become some of my closest friends and the things I have learned from them as well as from my coaches are things I will carry with me forever. I am blessed to be able to get up every day and do what I love.
If you could live anywhere, where would you choose?
I would choose to live in Hawaii because I love the outdoors. The island is so beautiful and it would be really cool to spend time there. I would love to find a job that would allow me to spend as much time outside as possible.
What do you value most in life and why?
I value my family and friends most in life. I feel that as long as I have them I have everything I need.
Teammate who would do the best on Jeopardy?
I would say Maddie Hartley because I think she would be hilarious on the show.
What is your favorite quote or saying and why do you like it?
My favorite quote is actually from The Incredibles movie!

What’s it like to play for Coach Ferrell?
Playing for coach Ferrell is amazing. He cares about each one of his athletes and puts in a lot of work for us. I have felt a part of this team ever since the first practice. He takes the time necessary to help us with our skills and to make us over all better players. If you need anything, he is there to help. Deciding to play for Coach Ferrell was one of the best decisions of my life.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central tennis?
Central tennis has given me so much. Being a part of a team is something that is very important to me and I love the Central tennis team. They are some of my best friends and I know I will have them for the rest of my life. Although practices can be intense, we always find a way to make it fun as well. The women’s team can be a crazy family and I love it! Our team is so hardworking and I love being pushed to be the best athlete I can be.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
Ten years from now I hope to have a career in event planning and to be settled down somewhere with a family.
Favorite food from Central Market
I really love Central desserts and my favorite has to be the scotcharoos.
Bucket list
I would love to travel to Hawaii and Paris for sure. I do love to travel and I just want to see as many places as I can.
