Why did you choose Central?

I chose Central because I loved the campus and people here, it is so different than back home in Arizona and I wanted to get as far away from there as possible.

Favorite professor and why?
               
This is hard because I love every professor in VSC (Vermeer Science Center), but it would have to be Dr. Wackerly because he is so strange and funny and scary all at the same time and I find it amusing. But also, he is my research professor and he has helped me gain a lot of confidence in my chemistry skills and believed in me even when I didn't. Also, because I can prank call him and his kids and wife Val are hilarious.

You’re majoring in biochemistry because? 

I love science and the challenges it brings, and I also thought that if I picked this major that it will be easier to get a job after college because of the large variety of skills I’ll gain from both biology and chemistry.

Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?

I am involved in CAB (Campus Activities Board), Chemistry club, B.E.P (Black Excellence in Pella), OLAS (Organization of Latinx-American Students), Anime club, Poetry club, Student senate, and was recently elected as Student body President for the 20-21’ term… I know it sounds like a lot but I’m having a good time.


Who are your go-to musical artists?

I listen to so many different types of music, so this is a tough one, but right now I’ve been listening to alot of BROCKHAMPTON, Mac Miller, Jhene Aiko, and Frank Ocean.


What are your summer plans for 2020?


I will be on campus pretty much all summer. My boyfriend and I will be doing Upward bound all of June, then we plan on going to Florida for a bit to visit his grandparents, and then come back and work in Pella till school starts.


If you had to give up one of your five senses, which one would it be and why?


I would give up my sense of smell because honestly everyone in my friend group, (shout out Sushi gang), has the worst farts and if I could never have to smell another, it would be amazing.


What kind of phone was your first phone?
My first phone was my mom's old pink razor, and when I got it, I thought I was the coolest kid in my elementary school.
 
 
Describe your perfect sandwich.
12 inch Italian bread, spinach, lettuce, provolone, and swiss cheese TOASTED with olives, pickles, banana peppers, mayo, and sweet teriyaki sauce with some good crisp folded ruffles inside.  


If you had to be stranded on an island with one member from your team, who would it be and why?
                This is a tough one, but it would be between Kennedy Morris and Theo Baldus. Kennedy because she's very strong, fast, and has good grip strength; so she could climb a tree and get us some coconuts or something. Also, because she's my best friend and I think we’d have fun just being on the island. Theo because I trust him with my life, and he is a big strong guy and could save us from any danger. Also, he can sing well so I would be entertained. 


Favorite TV Show


Please don't call me a weeb, but my favorite TV show is an anime called Hunter X Hunter and I 10/10 would recommend watching. It changed my life.   


What’s it like to compete for Coach Walz?


I love that Walz is my coach; he pushes us to do our best and always keeps a smile on our faces. This man is the funniest/weirdest person I’ve ever met. I really never know when he is being serious or sarcastic and that's always fun.


What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central track and field?


I love that we really are just a bunch of weirdos. Everyone supports each other, we are free to be ourselves, and it feels like a family. Sturm, and the rest of the coaches care about how we’re doing in all areas of life and I know that my team has got my back.


What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?


I hope to be married and own my own house with some dogs and maybe a baby who knows. I would like to be working in some type of big industrial or analytical chemistry lab testing or creating some cool things like food, makeup, or drugs and be making some big bucks.


Favorite food from Central Market


Pho bar is my absolute favorite meal from the Market but some days, nothing can beat a good tollhouse bar or Oreo blondie.
