Class of 2021
Stanwood, Iowa
Why did you choose Central?
I chose Central because, growing up with my parents as alums, I knew how great Central was. They never pushed me to go here, but I was drawn to campus due to the amazing community-feel, the drive to help students succeed in their education and future, and the opportunity to continue my basketball career.
Favorite professor and why?
Dr Keith Jones; I had him for LAS freshman year and Psych Investigations sophomore year. In both classes, he pushed me outside of my comfort zone because he knew how much I despised public speaking and wanted me to keep working at it; making me a lot more confident with it now. He has always been very supportive of me in basketball as well, which has meant a lot.
You’re majoring in exercis science witha minor in psychology because?
I am majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology. Throughout high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career. I have always loved being a part of athletics, and I thought Exercise Science would be the best route to stay with that aspect, and I have always found Psychology to be very interesting. I am also pre-PT, which was inspired by my experience with physical therapy in high school. The physical therapists I worked with were so encouraging and pushed me every day to get back to health. I hope to do the same for others in the future.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
I am a student coach for the volleyball team and involved with SAAC. I am also on a pretty decent intramural sand volleyball team. Watch out for us taking that championship next fall.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Khalid, Lewis Capaldi, and Kennedy Morris
Which teammate of yours would make the best U.S president and why?
Sami Craig; she is insanely smart and always knows what to do and say in any situation
Subway or Jimmy John’s?
Subway (sorry Josh Sharp)
If you woke up one morning and found yourself to be invisible, what would be the first things you did?
I would try to freak out as many people as possible, then sneak onto a flight somewhere warm.
What was your dream job growing up?
I wanted to be a pediatrician, but I absolutely hate needles and can’t stand blood so that one was off the table.
What are different nicknames you have had in your life?
Em, Hay, Dora, GremHay
Favorite TV Show

What’s it like to play for Coach Steinkamp?
Playing for Coach Steinkamp has taught me a lot. He has always pushed me to be my best and has helped me find confidence as a player and leader.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central Basketball?
The connections and friendships I have made with my teammates are the highlights of my experience. They are some of my best friends and I will always cherish the memories made with them on and off the court.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
10 years from now, I hope to be a physical therapist, living with my husband, kids, and a goldendoodle. I will also strive be the coolest mom at the PTA meetings and little league games, with the most stylish minivan and most refreshing Capri-suns.
