Why did you chose Central?
My grandparents and mom’s family lived in Pella so I grew up coming here all the time for holidays and Tulip Time. I fell in love with the town and what it meant to me and wasn’t really considering Central until I started thinking about playing golf in college. It just felt really good when I was on campus visiting and I was excited to be in Pella and be able to play collegiate golf.
Favorite professor and why?
I don’t like picking favorites but professor Lemke is probably up there. Might be an unpopular opinion, but he has the driest sense of humor ever and I love it. I also really like professor Rundle, she’s the sweetest lady. And special shoutout to Eric Jones because he rocks and will probably be singing at my wedding!!
You’re majoring in Business Management because?
I had lots of interests coming into college and I thought I wanted to be a dietician maybe, but decided I really enjoy business and can see myself working in the field. I didn’t want to go into finance because everyone in my family is in the industry, but turns out I enjoy it so here I am copying everyone.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
I’m involved in SAAC, specifically working on launching our new mentorship program and backing the CHOICES grant. I’m also involved in campus ministries and will be serving as a student trustee so that’s all fun. I also enjoy eating food and hanging out with my friends which I consider activities.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Lately Billie Eilish, but usually someone in the alternative genre.
What did you do for work and for fun in the summer of 2019?
I interned at Principal in Des Moines this summer in investment operations and for fun I watched a lot of Netflix and read some books and swam some and played some sand volleyball and started planning my wedding
What is the best course you’ve ever played?
Probably the Irish Course at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. There were sheep walking around on the course it was cool.
Which superpower would you choose to have for yourself?
Teleportation so I could be with the people I love whenever I want.
Your favorite to club to use?
My 52° wedge for chipping.
What is one thing you miss about being a kid and why?
Eating fruity pebbles every morning. It was a wonderful time.
Favorite TV show
I like Friends and Gossip Girl and The Office - taking new suggestions though!!
What’s it like to compete for Coach Wilkinson?
Really relaxed - he gives each player the boundaries he feels we need and gives us a lot of freedom to do what we think we need to do. He’s a great guy and really just cares about how we are doing as people at the end of the day. He also comes in clutch with the on-course snacks so your girls don’t ever get hangry.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central golf?
The team dynamic has been incredible, especially the last couple of years. I love them all and have the best time when I get to be around them.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
Doing work I am passionate about and enjoy doing most days. Also hopefully taking care of some kiddos.
Favorite food from Central Market
Hummus bar and avocado corn salsa.
Bucket list
Help Scott Wilson fulfill his Central Close-Up Bucket List dream of getting married. He also wanted to graduate college which he nailed all on his own.
