Why did you chose Central?
My older brother was already at Central playing tennis so I was exposed to the campus and its culture before I started looking at schools. Once I got here on a visit, it felt like home and it truly felt like a place where I could learn and grow. On top of that, all the coaches from both the football and tennis programs were very welcoming.
Favorite professor and why?
Dr. Sara Shuger-Fox; She is full of energy and in my three years here has helped spark my love for exercise science and a career in it.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
In a variety-pack: Queen, Keith Urban, & The Vamps
You’re majoring in exercise science because?
I’m majoring in exercise science because I have always been an athlete, so exercise and sport has been a huge part of my life. And throughout my education I’ve loved everything about the human body and helping others, and all of these come together perfectly in exercise science work.
Best part about your study abroad experience?
I haven’t officially gone on my study abroad experience yet. I’m planning to go to Merida in the spring of 2020. However, as a tennis team we traveled to Merida in the winter of 2018 and I loved the city and culture. I’m excited to go back and get some experience in research with Shuger-Fox.
What's the most expensive thing you've ever broken?
Probably my moped in high school from crashing it.
Toughest part about playing two sports?
The spring is the only time both sports give me any trouble, with the tennis season in full-swing, all while lifting for football and participating in spring football practices. Many days in late March and April, I have all three in one day, multiple times a week. Dealing with physical fatigue and a credit-heavy schedule of classes is the toughest part, and I combat it by just focusing on the day and whatever activity I’m at.
Which tennis teammate would be best at football and which football teammate would be best at tennis?
Tennis teammate at football would probably be Josh Philips because he’s so athletic.
Football teammate at tennis would be Brady Johnson, because he took Coach Ferrell’s sports class and played a little bit.
What are you doing this summer?
I’ll be working in the Upward Bound program at Central.
What’s the most important part of the sandwich?
The meat.
Favorite TV Show

What’s one thing people might not know about Coach Ferrell?
That he’s shy.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central Tennis?
That Coach Ferrell feeds us well throughout the day and after meets.
