Why did you choose Central?

I chose Central because of the great people that I met on my visit. Everyone seemed to be very accepting of me, and treated me as if I was already a Central student. This was especially true for football coaches Jeff McMartin and Eric Jones. If either of those two were not at Central, I would likely not be here either.

Favorite professor and why?

My favorite professor would be Professor Bergman. For the most part she is very easy-going in class, but still makes sure that we have full understanding of what is going on in her courses. She definitely is not afraid to have fun in her classes, balancing that well with the hard-work that she expects from her students.

Who are your go-to musical artists ?

I’m usually all over the place when listening to music. One minute I’ll be listening to Kenny Chesney and Thomas Rhett, then I’ll jump to Drake and the Red Hot Chili Peppers before moving to 80s and 90s artists like Sir Mix-A-Lot and Digital Underground. I have fairly broad and odd taste in music according to my family.

You’re majoring in accounting and business management because?

I’ve always been good with numbers, and have always felt that I would succeed the most in some type of business position. I started off wanting to be a sports agent, but realized that if I wanted to stay in the Iowa area, that would not work out for me. I broadened my schooling to include accounting, and I am now sure that I want to be a CPA with the ultimate goal of managing my own accounting firm.

Favorite road trip you’ve ever been?

A couple of summers ago my dad, a bunch of his buddies, and I went on RAGBRAI. My dad and I did not ride any of it, but we did drive a camper all across Iowa for them. His buddies were not the super serious riders, stopping many times for refreshments, both water and other beverages that dehydrated them. It was a very fun experience seeing hundreds of people drinking these same refreshments day and night, and then attempting to ride a bicycle the next day. That’s one trip that I will never forget.

If you were a famous wrestler, what would your stage name be?

Rhino Tank, because why not?

Who is the best lineman in the NFL?

My natural response would be Marshal Yanda of the Baltimore Ravens since he grew up 20 minutes from my hometown, but I’m going to have to say it is Andrew Whitworth of the Los Angeles Rams. I gotta go with Andrew Whitworth because he was a long-time Cincinnati Bengal. You can’t forget about the defensive guys like Geno Atkins or Aaron Donald either.

What do you consider the most important furniture in the house?

The bed is by far the most important piece of furniture in a house. You have to have a great bed or you will be miserable.

What was your first detention for?

Skipping school on Senior Skip Day. I refused to let my mom call me out like the rest of my friends, and ended up having to serve four hours of detention in one hour intervals. It was worth it.

What’s your greatest achievement (to date), and how has it shaped you?

My greatest achievements to date would be making the IIAC Academic All-Conference teams the last two years, and making the Dean’s List. It is a great honor to be recognized for your hard-work in the classroom and on the field, though the recognition is not the reason that I work as hard as I do.

Favorite TV Show

My favorite TV show would be the Big Bang Theory mostly because of Sheldon and Raj. It is one of the best shows that I have seen in recent memory.

What is it like to play for Coach McMartin?

It is a great honor to play for Coach McMartin. He has tremendous knowledge of the game, and is always looking to make the team, individuals, and the program as a whole better. Nothing gets past Coach McMartin which can be both a blessing and a downfall, depending on if you made or missed your assignment. I truly believe that he is one of the best coaches around, not only in Division III, but in all levels of NCAA football.

What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central football?

My favorite part is being a part of the tremendous tradition and being able to pass that down to more and more players. The brotherhood aspect of the team is amazing as well. The guys on the team, and their personalities  are what makes it special.

“Ten years from now I’ll...”

Hopefully be working successfully in a public accounting job and have an office with a window. Hopefully by that time I will be starting to put myself in a position where I can think about starting my own accounting firm.

Favorite food from Central Market

My favorite Central Market food would have to Friday night chicken wraps, but only if by some miracle I can get there when the line doesn’t extend to the chocolate milk dispensers.

16. Bucket list
I haven’t thought too much about my bucket list, but I for sure want to visit all 30 MLB stadiums. To take that goal even further, I want to see the Atlanta Braves play in all 30 MLB stadiums. I currently have checked off seven active stadiums for the first goal, and four for the second.
I also would love to rebuild a 1968 Chevy Camaro at some point, but I’m guessing that’ll have to wait awhile until after I’m done paying off my student loans.
