Joanna Settles joined the Central women's volleyball staff in 2021.

Settles came to Central after spending two seasons as the head coach for the Pella Christian High School volleyball team. She compiled a 36-37 record and guided the team to the Regional Semifinals in both seasons. She previously spent the 2016 season coaching Scottsdale Christian Academy, where she was named the District Coach of the Year. The team set a school record with a 31-4 record and advanced to the state semifinals.

A  three-sport athlete at Coe College, Settles was a Female Athlete of the Year finalist in 1997. She played volleyball, basketball and softball for the Kohawks. She earned 16 varsity letters as a high school athlete at Columbus Community High School and holds and state school records in softball, track and field, basketball and volleyball.

Settles is a middle school science and S.T.E.M teacher at Pella Christian Grade School. She holds a doctorate and masters in educational leadership from the University of Iowa.
