Russ Goodman joined the Central women's soccer staff in 2011 as an assistant coach, primarily working with the team's goalkeepers. He was also with the program from 2002-07

In 2015, Goodman helped Sydney Lunardi become the first keeper in program history to be named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region squad. Under his tutelage, three Central goalkeepers have been cited as all-conference performers a total of six times. He's also had six student-athletes receive honorable mention from the conference office.

He has a USSF National 'D' License and a Goalkeeping Advanced Level III Diploma. Goodman also coached the Pella Soccer Club premier girls’ team for three seasons, winning the NSC Cup in Blaine, Minn. in 2009. Additionally, he is a certified game official.

Also an associate professor of mathematics at Central, Goodman received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Texas-Arlington, with a doctoral degree from the University of Oklahoma.
