Kayla Sunvold joined the Central women's soccer staff in 2019. She added the role of fitness coordinator in 2020.

Sunvold served as an assistant coach for the girl's varsity team at Southeast Polk high school for three seasons (2016-19) and also was the head coach for the junior varsity team. She was also an assistant at Pella Christian high school in 2014 and 2015. Sunvold has also obtained her USSF National 'E' License and received her United Soccer Coaches Sports Performance Diploma. Additionally, she has completed four e-learning courses from the United Soccer Coaches: Attacking Principles of Play, Defending Principles of Play, Foundations of Coaching and Sports Performance.

A four-year letterwinner for the Dutch, Sunvold served as a team captain in 2016. Predominantly a midfielder, Sunvold tallied 15 goals and 15 assists in her career. She had a school record 10 assists in 2016 and played 76 games in her career, the second most of any player in school history.

In her junior and senior season, Sunvold was selected to the all-conference second team after being honorable mention as a sophomore. She was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-North Region team in 2016. She was a three-time selection for the academic all-conference honors.
