Central College Athletics

Conor Riordan was named Central's interim head men's basketball coach in June, 2025.

Riordan joined the staff as an assistant in 2022 and the Dutch are 52-28 in his three seasons. Central captured the American Rivers tournament crown in 2024-25, earning the program's 12th NCAA Division III tourney berth. The 2022-23 team went 13-3 in league play and took home Central's 18th conference title. Center Joshua Van Gorp was a two-time conference player of the year and a three-time all-America honoree. He was Central player to receive NABC All-America distinction, getting selected in 2023-24 and 2024-25.

He spent the 2021-22 season as a graduate assistant at Midland University (Neb.).
           
Riordan, a former three-year team captain and two-time all-conference pick at Ankeny High School, was a two-time CSC Academic All-America® honoree at Simpson College, graduating in 2020. Riordan was a three-time first-team American Rivers all-conference guard for Simpson and a finalist for the Jostens Trophy as the outstanding NCAA Division III player. He averaged 20.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 2019-20, finishing with 1,533 career points. Riordan was also chosen to play with a Division III team on a 2021 summer tour of Brazil hosted by USA Sports and Events.
           
Before starting a master’s degree program at Midland, Riordan spent the 2020-21 season as an assistant coach at Ankeny High School, serving as the sophomore team coach.
