Nick Mulder joined the Central football coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2012.

He was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2016. After also working with the defensive line for eight seasons, Mulder began assisting with linebackers in 2020.

Mulder, a Pella native, is a 2007 Central graduate and was a two-time second-team all-Iowa Conference defensive lineman. He was a member of three NCAA playoff squads and teams that won or shared three league championships.

Mulder earned a master's degree in business administration from Anderson University (Ind.) in 2013. He served as a graduate assistant coach with the defensive line for Anderson during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The 2011 Anderson defense led the Heartland Conference in sacks and turnovers forced.  Mulder also served as the football team’s strength and conditioning coordinator.

Mulder and his wife, Kelsey, have four children.
