Robby Laughlin was added to the Central baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2023.

Laughlin comes to Central after two seasons as the head assistant coach at Bryant & Stratton College (Wis.) where he served as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. The Bobcats went 41-53-1 in his two seasons while setting multiple offensive records. He also served in a similar at Dawson Community College in Montana in 2021.

The Northwestern College grad played three seasons with the Red Raiders before joining the program as a student assistant coach for the 2018 season. He was the baseball program's recruiting coordinator and an assistant coach in 2018 and 2019 while also serving in the admissions department as an athletic liaison.

A veteran summer league coach, Laughlin has worked for summer collegiate teams in three different states. He was an assistant with the Ocean Forest O's in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2019. He was the head coach for the Omaha (Neb.) Red Raiders in 2020 and the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 2021. His Red Raiders team won the regular season title and the Whiskey Jacks set the organization's single-season wins record.

He was a field scout with Perfect Game in Fort Meyers, Florida in 2018 and a volunteer assistant coach for Van Buren County High School in 2018 and 2019.

Laughlin graduated from Northwestern College in 2018 with a degree in sports management. He received his master's degree from Concorda University - Irvine (Calif.) in 2020 in athletic administration.
