Adam Carey was named the head coach for the Central baseball program in June of 2023 after spending eight of the previous nine seasons as a player or assistant coach.

Carey come back to Central after spending the 2021 as head assistant and pitching coach at Black Hawk College. The junior college program finished 44-13 and won the Arrowhead Conference with a 20-0 record. They finished as a runner-up in the Region IV Tournament, just missing a trip to the Division II Junior College World Series.

During his playing career, Carey earned three varsity letters and served as a team captain in 2019. Over five years, Carey made pitching 21 appearances and recorded 58.2 innings of work. He achieved a 5-5 mark and a 5.37 ERA. His best season came in 2019, going 4-2 in 12 appearances with a 4.93 ERA. He was with the team for five seasons after making just one appearance and receiving a medical redshirt in 2018.

 The Pella native previously spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant with the Pella High school baseball team. In the summers of 2019 and 2020, Carey served as the pitching coach for the Rockford Rivets of the Northwoods League, a highly-touted collegiate wood bat league.
