PELLA— The Central College women's tennis team came up on the wrong end of a 7-0 decision Friday afternoon against Morningside University.
The Dutch (1-1) were blanked by the Mustangs (1-0), an NAIA opponent from Sioux City, on their home courts.
Sidney Peterson (sophomore, Johnston) nearly scratched out a No. 3 singles win, taking the opening set 6-2 before ultimately losing 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) to Brooke Marshall.
Emma Murphy (senior, Liberty, Mo.) also pushed Stefany Simplicio in their No. 4 singles match but came up short 6-3, 7-5.
Central opens American Rivers Conference play on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Lincoln, Nebraska against Nebraska Wesleyan University.
