PELLA—Tailgating will be in full effect for the Central College football team's home opener on Saturday.
The Dutch (2-1) make their Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium debuts as part of the college's Homecoming festivities against the University of Dubuque at 1 p.m.
Access to the main parking lot adjacent to P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium is available at 8 a.m. Cost is $10 per car and $20 for an RV. Additional paid parking will be available at the baseball field north of the stadium. Tailgaters from visiting teams are encouraged to use this option but it's open to others as well. An additional entry gate on the visitor's side of the stadium will be opened to ease fan access.
Plenty of free street parking near Kuyper Gym remains and free golf cart shuttles will be available for fans to take to the stadium from all designated parking locations. Fans can also park free in other college lots, including the Roe Center at the corner of West Fourth Street and University Street southeast of the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex.
The gates to the stadium open at 11:30 a.m. Early access to the stands will not be allowed. Single-game tickets can be purchases at the entrance for $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens (62+) and students (kindergarten-college).
