PELLA — The middle of the Central College women's tennis lineup pushed them to a 4-3 win over Wartburg College Saturday afternoon.
Central (5-2, 4-1 American Rivers Conference) had dropped the doubles point but No. 2
Sidney Peterson (sophomore, Johnston) and No. 3
Emily Blom (junior, Pella) had given the Dutch a pair of singles wins. Peterson won 6-4, 6-0 and Blom won 6-1 6-3.
After three hours of competition with the score tied at 2-2, nightfall in Pella forced the action to move across town from the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex to Pella High School in pursuit of lighted courts.
Emma Murphy (Liberty, Mo.) was victorious at No. 4 6-0, 6-7, 6-0 to set up
Claire Smock's (sophomore, Pella) clinching win at No. 5 by a 7-6, 7-5 margin.
The top Dutch players will compete at the ITA Division III Midwest Regional on Friday and Saturday in Saint Peter, Minnesota.
