Dutch women score four times in soccer triumph

Anderson scores twice for first collegiate brace

PELLA — A slow start gave way to an offensive onslaught for the Central College women's soccer team in a 4-0 win against Illinois College Tuesday.
           
After 40 scoreless minutes to start the contest, Sami Anderson put Central (1-0) on the board in the 41st minute for her first career goal.
           
Central added two more goals in the first three minutes of the second half off when Lila Gwyn (freshman, Cincinnati, Sycamore HS) and Josie Newton (senior, Altoona, Southeast Polk HS) scored within 60 seconds of each other. Newton scored on an assist from Olivia DeVos (junior, Altoona, Southeast Polk HS)
           
Anderson made it a brace with in the 84th minute to close out the scoring.
           
Zoey Sizemore (senior, Omaha, Neb., Mercy HS) faced just four shots, making one save in a shutout performance.
           
"It was a fantastic start for us," coach Mike Kobylinski said. "It carried over from a preseason where we came in fit and ready to go."
           
The Dutch hit the road for a 4:30 p.m. match at Cornell College Friday in Mount Vernon.
