PELLA—The Central College softball team had five players named to the Academic All-District® softball teams Tuesday, selected by College Sports Communicators.
Catcher
Rylee Dunkin (junior, Hamilton, Twin Cedars HS), third baseman
Hannah Higgins (senior, Macomb, Ill.), second baseman
Larissa Miller (junior, Ankeny) are all repeat selections. Sophomore pitcher
Jadyn Huisman (Treynor) and sophomore right fielder
Emma Anderson (Forest City).
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must play in 90% of a team's contests at the varsity level or start in 66% of the games while achieving a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average (4.00 scale).
Dunkin is an elementary education major with a 3.97 GPA. A first team American Rivers All-Conference selection, Dunkin had a team-high .369 batting average of 53 runs scored.
Higgins is an environmental & sustainability studies and biology double major with a 3.85 GPA. She was also a first team all-conference pick. She shared the team lead with 38 RBI and had a .289 batting average.
Miller is a biology and Spanish double major with a 3.77 GPA. She had a .314 batting average and scored 42 runs with 21 stolen bases.
Anderson is a business management major with a 3.86 GPA. She was a second team all-conference honoree while hitting .328 with 10 extra-base hits.
Huisman is a communication studies and business management double major with a 3.75 GPA. She had a 3.15 ERA in 109 innings pitched, winning 12 games.
Dunkin advanced to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 16. The CSC Academic All-America® programs are financially supported partially by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures.
Central posted a 30-14 record while making a record 34th NCAA Division III Championships appearance.
