PELLA — The Central College baseball team was represented on the all-region baseball teams for the first time since 2023 as Brayden Sawyer (senior, Grundy Center) was chosen as a utility player for both the D3baseball.com All Region 9 and American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region IX teams Monday.

Sawyer was a first-team selection by the ABCA and a second-team honoree by D3baseball.com.

The team's primary third baseman and leadoff man, Sawyer maintained a .321 batting average with 54 hits. He drove in a team-high 32 runs with five home runs and nine doubles. As a pitcher, Sawyer had a 4-1 record in six starts. He finished with a 2.77 ERA, allowing just 12 earned runs in 39.0 innings. He issued just five walks while striking out 18.

Sawyer joins a short list of Dutch first team all-region selections by the ABCA. Robbie Rushing was the most recent selection in 2014 as a designated hitter.

Central finished its season 17-23 overall and 12-12 in the American Rivers Conference.
