PELLA — The Central College men's tennis team started a busy week strong with a 7-0 victory over Buena Vista University Wednesday.
Central (4-15, 3-3 American Rivers Conference) blanked Buena Vista (5-10, 1-5 conference) for the sixth time in seven years.
The Dutch got wins from the only seniors on the roster.
Quin Hull (Ottumwa) was a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles while his twin
Trey Hull (Ottumwa) played No. 3 doubles with
Donovan Klish (sophomore, Liberty, North HS) and won 7-5.
In the other doubles matches,
Bodi Kortz (freshman, Wormerveer, Netherlands/St. Michael College) and
Alex Slaymaker won 6-3 at No. 1 and
Ernest Alvarez Chedzoy (freshman, Kerrville, Texas, Tivy HS) and
Gavin Jablonski (junior, Marshalltown) won 6-3 in the No. 2 spot.
Kortz won 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 singles. Slaymaker won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 as did
Gavin Jablonski at No. 4. Chedzoy won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3.
Francisco Molina Centeno (freshman, Mexico City, Mexico, Centro Educativo Jean Piaget) won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5.
Central hosts Loras College at 4 p.m. Friday and the University of Dubuque at 10 a.m.
