MOLINE, ILL.— In its first action of the spring, the Central College women's tennis team defeated Saint Ambrose University 4-3 Friday afternoon.

Central won four of six singles matches, including a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 win at No. 2 by Lauren Gano (junior, Johnston).

The bottom half of the Dutch lineup tipped the scales in their favor. Emily Blom (sophomore, Pella) won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, Sidney Peterson (freshman, Johnston) won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 and Rebekah Christensen (junior, Marshalltown) won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.

Despite losing the doubles point the No.2 tandem of Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney (senior, Misawa, Japan, Robert D. Edgren HS) and Claire Smock (freshman, Pella) won 6-2.

Next on Central's schedule is hosting Willamette University (Ore.) on March 24.
